Help with anger outbursts

Counting to ten manages an outburst. It does not touch whatever keeps loading the gun before you get to the count.

Help with anger outbursts

Anger as the visible layer

Underneath most outbursts sits something else: shame, fear, exhaustion, or a threat response that never stood down. Working only on control techniques leaves the driver intact, which is why people relapse and then feel worse.

  • Disproportionate reactions to small things
  • Regret and shame in the hours afterwards
  • Family walking on eggshells
  • Road rage or reactivity at work

Two tracks at once

Track one gives you immediate containment so the damage stops. Track two goes after the driver β€” often trauma, chronic overload or an old family pattern β€” so containment stops being needed.

When someone else asked you to come

Plenty of clients arrive because a partner insisted. That is a fine starting point, and it is said plainly: this only works if at some point you want it for yourself as well.

Common questions

Is this a court-mandated anger management course?+

No. This is private one-to-one therapy, not a certificated programme, and no reports are issued to third parties.

What if I have never been violent, just verbal?+

That is the majority of clients here. Verbal reactivity does real damage and is treated seriously.

Can trauma cause anger?+

Frequently. Hyperarousal from trauma shows up as irritability far more often than people expect.
