Therapy while you wait for NHS support

A waiting list is not treatment. Whatever you are waiting for, something useful can usually be done now.

Therapy while you wait for NHS support

What can be done during the wait

Stabilisation, sleep, regulation skills and reduction of the most disabling symptom are all achievable without pre-empting whatever the NHS eventually offers. In many cases the full piece of work finishes before the letter arrives.

  • Waiting for an ADHD or autism assessment
  • Referred for trauma-focused therapy months ago
  • Discharged from a service with symptoms remaining
  • Told you are not unwell enough to qualify

No referral, no gatekeeping

You can book directly. There is no assessment queue, no eligibility threshold, and no session cap imposed from outside the room.

Honest about limits

This is not psychiatry and does not provide diagnosis or medication. If your need is clearly beyond talking therapy, you will be told that early rather than after ten paid sessions.

Common questions

Will private therapy affect my NHS referral?+

No, it does not remove you from any list. Do tell the NHS service if asked, for continuity.

Can you diagnose ADHD or autism?+

No. Diagnosis requires a separate specialist assessment; the therapy addresses the difficulties regardless.

Is short-term work worthwhile if I am waiting for something bigger?+

Usually yes β€” stabilisation makes any later treatment more effective.
