Therapy for new parents
You can love the baby completely and still be struggling badly. Nobody here needs you to prove the first part before discussing the second.

What comes up in the first two years
Flashbacks to the delivery. Anxiety that spikes at every noise from the monitor. Intrusive thoughts about harm that terrify you. Rage at a partner who seems unchanged. And the disappearance of the person you were before.
- Traumatic or frightening birth
- Postnatal anxiety and constant checking
- Intrusive harm thoughts and the shame around them
- Loss of identity, career and autonomy
Fathers and partners included
Partners who witnessed a traumatic birth, or who are struggling with the change, are seen on the same basis. This is not a mothers-only service.
Working with real logistics
Sessions are scheduled around naps, nursery and feeding. Online is available when getting into town is unrealistic.
Common questions
Are intrusive thoughts about the baby dangerous?+
Distressing intrusive thoughts are extremely common in new parents and are not intent. They should still be talked about, including with your health visitor or GP.
Is this postnatal depression treatment?+
PND should be discussed with your GP. This work sits alongside that, focusing on trauma and anxiety.
Can I bring the baby?+
For an intro call, yes. For processing sessions, it is worth arranging cover where possible.
